Well, it’s easy! You can either book a tour, or travel on your own.
Tours to Volendam from Amsterdam

During the Keukenhof season (in 2018 from March 22 till May 13) it’s also a good idea to see the flower gardens and the scenic Dutch villages of Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken in one day.

How to get to Volendam from Amsterdam?
Just take a bus 316 which departs from Amsterdam/CS IJzijde station. The bus station is located behind Amsterdam Centraal train station. In 45 minutes the bus will take you directly to Volendam. If you travel with OV-chipcard, a single one-way trip will cost you 4,39 EUR. Alternatively you can buy:
Waterland day ticket for unlimied bus trips between Amsterdam, Edam, Volendam, Marken, Monnickendam, Purmerend and Broek in Waterland during the day. The ticket costs 10 EUR (and is also available online with 10% discount).
Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket for 24 hours of unlimited travel by bus, tram, metro and train in Amsterdam and surrounding areas (including Volendam, Edam, Marken, Zaanse Schans, Haarlem, Zandvoort and Keukenhof. The ticket is valid from the first time you check in until 04:00 hours after the last valid day.
How to get from Volendam to Marken?
Probably the nicest way to get from Volendam to Marken is by ferry boat. The Volendam-Marken Express operates a ferry service between Volendam and Marken all year round, except when the lake is frozen. Departure times and intervals vary depending on the time of the year.

With I amsterdam city card you can enjoy a free one way ferry trip from Volendam to Marken.
Alternatively you can get from Volendam from Marken by bus. Get on a bus 316 (direction Amsterdam) and take a ride to Broek in Waterland, Dorp bus stop. Is it possible to visit Volendam and the Zaanse Schans in one day?
In general, yes. But if you look at the map you can see these two villages are located in the different directions from Amsterdam. A direct bus 817 between the Zaanse Schans and Volendam operates only in July and August. If you come during a different season, you will need to travel via Amsterdam which will take more than an hour. We recommend you to join a bus tour to the Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken and travel with more comfort.
