Mauritshuis guided tours
Want the stories behind Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Goldfinch and The Anatomy Lesson? A private guided tour of the Mauritshuis with entry costs from € 190 per group, so it’s good value if you visit with family or friends.
The Mauritshuis address and how to get there
The Mauritshuis is located in the center of The Hague (Den Haag), not in Amsterdam, directly next to the Binnenhof. The exact address is Plein 29, 2511 CS Den Haag.
It is easily accessible by train, tram, and bus. A train ride from Amsterdam to The Hague takes around 50 minutes and costs € 15,30 for a one-way trip.
A walk from The Hague Central Station (Den Haag Centraal) to the museum takes around 10 minutes. Parking is available within 100 metres from the entrance. Suitcases and bags larger than A4 can’t be stored at the museum, so leave them in the luggage lockers at Den Haag Centraal.

The Mauritshuis is open every day: from 10:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday to Sunday, and from 13:00 to 18:00 on Mondays. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time. Hours on public holidays may differ.
| Day | Mauritshuis | Prince William V Gallery |

| Tuesday to Sunday | 10:00 to 18:00 | 12:00 to 17:00 |
Why visit the Mauritshuis?
Unlike many large museums which can be overwhelming, the Mauritshuis offers a carefully curated collection displayed in beautifully decorated period rooms. Highlights include paintings by:
- Johannes Vermeer: Girl with a Pearl Earring and View of Delft
- Rembrandt van Rijn: The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp
- Frans Hals
- Jan Steen
- Paulus Potter
- Carel Fabritius: The Goldfinch
- Peter Paul Rubens

What I find special about the Mauritshuis is a small detail, but one that really adds to the atmosphere of the palace. It is the soft carpeting throughout the rooms. As you walk around, you don’t feel hard wooden floors but a soft, comfortable surface that makes the palace feel warm and welcoming.

Now on: Thyssen-Bornemisza x Mauritshuis (until 17 January 2027)
From 15 October 2026 to 17 January 2027, the Mauritshuis hosts Thyssen-Bornemisza x Mauritshuis: Masterpieces from Madrid, a temporary exhibition of 25 works on loan from Madrid’s Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, with names such as Jan van Eyck, Albrecht Dürer and El Greco. Michael Sweerts’ Boy in a Turban is shown in dialogue with Girl with a Pearl Earring.
It’s an exchange, so some Mauritshuis favourites are in Madrid until 17 January 2027, including Vermeer’s View of Delft and Frans Hals’ Laughing Boy. Girl with a Pearl Earring stays in The Hague. Book your time slot early for weekends during the exhibition.
