Why Visit the Mauritshuis?
Unlike many large museums which can be overwhelming, the Mauritshuis offers a carefully curated collection displayed in beautifully decorated period rooms. Highlights include paintings by:
- Johannes Vermeer
- Rembrandt van Rijn
- Frans Hals
- Jan Steen
- Paulus Potter
- Carel Fabritius
- Peter Paul Rubens
What I find special about the Mauritshuis, is a small detail, but one that really adds to the atmosphere of the palace. It is the soft carpeting throughout the rooms. As you walk around, you don’t feel hard wooden floors but a soft, comfortable surface that makes the palace feel warm and welcoming.
