Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring is travelling to the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka, Japan, where it will be on display from 21 August to 27 September 2026. The painting rarely leaves the Mauritshuis and is loaned out only in highly exceptional circumstances.
The Mauritshuis itself will be closed to the public from Monday 24 August to Sunday 20 September 2026 for alterations. If you’re planning a visit, double-check your dates before booking.

The Mauritshuis address
The Mauritshuis is located in the center of The Hague, directly next to the Binnenhof. The exact address is Plein 29, 2511 CS Den Haag.
It is easily accessible by train, tram, and bus. A train ride from Amsterdam to the Hague takes around 50 minutes and costs € 15,30 for a one-way trip.
A walk from the Hague Central Station to the museum takes around 10 minutes. Parking is available within 100 metres from the entrance.
