Bus 397 (Amsterdam Airport Express) travels from Schiphol airport to central Amsterdam in about 30 minutes. It costs around € 6,50 one-way and runs every 8 – 15 minutes during the day. It stops at major locations including Museumplein, Leidseplein, and Elandsgracht.

Important: The Schiphol Plaza bus station is currently being rebuilt. Some buses will be arriving and departing from different locations than travellers are used to. The new locations are indicated by signage and information at the bus stops.

How to pay for the bus 397?

You can buy the ticket online (€ 6,50). A return ticket costs € 11,75. You can also buy a bus ticket from the driver. The driver doesn’t accept cash, you can only pay with a bank card.

 

Connexxion bus 397 is not a part of Amsterdam public transport system (operated by GVB). That’s why Amsterdam public transport tickets are not valid on this bus. But you can buy Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket or Amsterdam Travel Ticket which are valid both on the bus line 397 and in the city.

Does bus 397 go to Amsterdam Centraal?

No, bus 397 does not go directly to Amsterdam Centraal Station. It terminates at Elandsgracht in the city centre. From there, you need tram or walking to reach other areas.
