No trains to/from/through Amsterdam Centraal station on June 29, 2024

On Saturday, June 29, 2024 Amsterdam Centraal train station will be closed for train traffic. No trains will run to, from or via the station all day due to planned engineering works. Trains will resume the next day but will be limited on June 30 and July 1 2024. International trains will not arrive to Amsterdam.

ProRail, a Dutch government organisation responsible for the maintenance and extension of the national railway network, has reported that on June 29, 2024 Amsterdam Centraal station will be compelety closed. It will happen for the first time ever since its opening in 1889. A new stage of major station rennovation will start on this day.

How does it affect your local travel?

Amsterdam Centraal station is a major hub, with trains departing to different parts of the Netherlands (including Schiphol airport) and abroad.

If you are departing from Amsterdam, you will need to travel part of your trip by bus, tram or metro. If you are travelling through Amsterdam, you will need to take an alternative train route.

There will be completely no trains going to/ from or through Amsterdam Centraal on 29 June 2024. On 30 June 2024 there will be no trains between Amsterdam and Muiderpoort and Weesp (NS bus will operate instead).

On Sunday 30 June 2024 and Monday 1 July 2024 there will also be a limited amount of trains between Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Sloterdijk, which can affect travellers going to Schiphol airport.

How does it affect your international travel?

From 29 June to 1 July 2024 international trains to the Netherlands will have an adjusted schedule and won’t stop at Amsterdam Centraal. You can take a train to Paris at Schiphol or Rotterdam Centraal station.

InterCity Netherlands trains (Brussels – Amsterdam) will terminate in Rotterdam. Passengers to Schiphol airport and Amsterdam can change trains in Breda or Rotterdam Centraal and use NS trains to their final destination with their current international ticket.
